Attracting the RIGHT People on Facebook

 “Let’s Be Friends”

You know how awkward it can feel sending a friend request to someone on facebook that you don’t actually know.  BUT… it really doesn’t have to be creepy.

Finding friends that you have interests in common with, like YOUR BUSINESS can be good for both you and the person you are making a new connection with.  Making NEW friends on fb can be fun for EVERYONE.

Think about it, these are people that you are going to have direct, personal contact and they might even turn in to potential customers and who knows, you might become their customer too, or maybe you will exchange referrals. It’s good for everybody, but especially for small-business owners, like you that want to connect directly with local people, this can give you and your business a big boost.

So…  YOU ready to make some new friends?love facebook

POST below in the comment section. Let us know that you LOVE making NEW friends and then give us a link to your fb page and your business website. If you want, you can also give a brief — very brief — bio of your involvement with your company.

Once you’ve posted about YOU, start making new friends with the other small business owners in the comment section below. You can send a friend request and/or comment about their post.  BE FRIENDLY!

Take some time to find relevant connections. You don’t have to be friends with everybody. You’ll find that connecting with like minded people will inspire you.

Thanks in advance for all your help!  – that will get you found!

Please learn from the tips below and then add your tips to this resource in the comments below:

  •   Findsalesrep Get Found If you are in direct sales, you need to have a fb page that associates you with your company. For example: Karen White – Independent Scentsy Consultant This pg should have your companies name in the title – if your company allows it. On this page you should post any company news, new products, savings events, bonus opportunities and and specials that you may be personally offering. Daily pictures are essential on this pg.
  •  Want to get noticed by google? Having a fb pg with your company name and your location can help you ‘show up’. Example: Karen White – Independent Scensty Rep – New Mexico
  • People love to save too. Having a fb page that let’s people know they will get a great deal can attract new customers too. Example: Karen’s Coupons – Independent Scentsy Consultant
  •  Some people are looking for a team to join. These are people that know the business and know how important support can be. Example: Independent Scensy Consultants Unite – Team United We Scent
  •  Amy Engeldinger Thanks for the tip!
  •  Findsalesrep Get Found Tiffany Hathorn and Amy Engeldnger, can you please tell us what you learned. It would be awesome if you could just pick you 3 top ides that you now use. Thanks!
  •  Amy Engeldinger Don’t go liking other FB pages of your team members or company. Why? A customer can be confused to what page is yours and may order from the wrong person.
  •  Tiffany Hathorn Well, one thing I have learned is to write down a list of your target prospect’s qualities. What do they like? Where do they hang out? What do they do? By making a list of the perfect prospect you don’t waste so much time with those people who are not going to be interested. You weed them right out. Also, if you are building your team, you want to look for people like YOU. People with the same entrepreneurial spirit, same goals, same mindset. SO think about your favorite fan pages to follow. The gurus you follow. The pages you subscribe to for their motivational posts and business advice. The ones about building an income online or at home. Those are where you will find people like you. Finally, stop just posting your ads everywhere. No one cares! Give them content. Message people privately and get to know them. 10 targeted leads that you connect with will get you much further than 100 leads that just see your ads. Oh, and when it comes to like ladders and all these “business advertising’ groups — don’t depend on those to build your biz. Use them to network with other entrepreneurs. That’s a mix of what I have learned from experience and through some webinars. There is sooooo much more, but I don’t want to write a book here. Lol
  •  Findsalesrep Get Found Here is another: What ever you say or post on fb should be said authentically. FB is a social place, not a comercial. Be human. Also, be a leader and others will follow. Look for opportunities to share your ideas and support others. That kind of good positive karma will come back to you. People are people and all of us like to be around positive environments. Kind words stay with us and when we want something, we remember who has it, by how they touched our lives. In summery, BE NICE!
  •   Tiffany Hathorn Oh, and definitely follow the 90-10 rule on your fan pages — 90% content, 10% advertising/promoting. No one wants to be sold to all the time.
  •  Findsalesrep Get Found More about being a leader: It’s important to have a fb page where you are the team leader. This can be your “challenge” pg, your “Coaching” pg or your inspiration pg. On this page look for ways to involve your friends and followers. Get them involved, taking and loving what you have to offer. Make it exciting, fun and “sharable”.
  •  Tiffany Hathorn Know your company’s rules about what you can and can’t do online.
  •  Findsalesrep Get Found More about attitude: Keeping everything positive does not mean be fake. It’s a mind set that if you are planning to be successful, you must adopt. Decide who you want to be Dream, Believe, Become. OR Dread, Complain, Conspire. One path will raise up you and your fb fans. The other, well, I don’t really know what happens if you choose the other. So, just don’t do that.
  •  Findsalesrep Get Found More about company rules: Yes, know your rules. Getting that call from “compliance’ is scare and yes I say that from experience. BUT…. most companies really just want to work with you. They don’t want to lose you. They usually will work with you if you say, “sorry, I did not know and won’t do it again”. Most use the 3 strikes and you are out rule. So, if you are only on strike one, you are probably ok.
  •  Findsalesrep Get Found Thanks for your help Tiffany Hathorn. Knew I could count on you!  Who else has a tip for this growing DS Community?

Here is what we asked:

Do you Market Your Direct Sales Business on fb?

Share your Tips with us.

Tracy Ford Stire I get alot of people saying to me…” I saw that on your Facebook page” or they want to discuss what they saw on my Facebook page with me. It may not turn into a sale right then but who knows?? For me, I am looking to always promote my name in conjuction with Norwex!! So when someone sees Norwex, I want them to think…”hey that’s that company that Tracy Stire is a consultant with ~ she is always writing about all their different products”!!
Like others, my photos are so important ~ my business is all based on demonstrating the products!! I too, direct my traffic to my facebook page where they can have a look at my monthly Customer and Hostess specials and read my thought provoking articles and see all that is Norwex!!
It’s like any small business. You are only as good as you promote yourself to be…just keep letting everyone know that you are an Avon rep and soon word will get around that if you are wanting Avon, Shannon Jeremy Wheelock is the gal for ya!! It does take hard work but it can be so worth it!!
And the biggest thing…it is FREE!!
Findsalesrep Get Found wrote: That’s right Tracy Ford Stire I agree. Be there when they need you and provide info to perk their interest regularly. Thanks for the share!
Torreh Pearl UppercaseLiving Demonstrator My business is very visual so I post a lot of photos and keep all my albums public. I get more interest in the photos than any statuses I post, but I always let my customers know about any specials or news. I want people to know that Facebook is the place they can go to for lots of ideas and up to the minute news on my business. Great question.
Linda Nakonechny Funk I try to post new things and specials to attract buyers. I try to post only once or twice a day … if they like it, they will come. :
Findsalesrep Get Found That’s very true! When they are ready they always find you.
Amber Isbell Welvaert I love sharing different products and the many different uses for them. I am with a new company and people think we sell just purses but Gigi Hill sell so much more than just purses. Also, I like the idea of posting dates I am available I do many different events so that people can come without hosting a party. So I post these all the time
MarilynInfo StopShop Awesome ideas and reminders everyone. I haven’t messages anyone, unless they Asked me to or showed interest. I think it’s spam if you just message people lol.  I do pix and sales I have a couple of videos on my blog I share as well. My blog goes direct to my fb wall or it should lol I did change a setting in my blog so not sure if it’s still posting like it should. I also post updates that I’m available for certain dates as well.
I’m trying to follow this schedule Monday mail day, Tuesday share samples or do on the spot demo if possible, share liquid lines Wednesday, tell it, talk about it testimonial Nd thankful day, and freebie Friday. Get contact info from as many people that allows/wants and follow up using the 2 day, 2 weeks, 1 month , & 2 month suggestions
Findsalesrep Get Found wrote:  Thanks! helpful! I love things that help me get focus and stay organized. Particularly on fb where time can quickly disappear. Good One!
Shannon Jeremy Wheelock i market on FB mostly but also in store i try to share my books but i have not had any luck with anything trying to sale avon i thought this would be a easy way to help with bills while staying home but it is not.
Beth Jones All the time.. I use it and talk to people about the company and what we are doing.
Findsalesrep Get Found ‎wrote:  Beth Jones I see you everywhere on fb. Can you tell us exactly what works on fb. There are a lot of reps frustrated and waiting a lot of time on fb. Do you have any advice?
Take it one step at a time.. Email people they maybe with your company and keep a contact list… That is always good.
Monica Ramos I encourage my fans to post pics of themselves with their purses matching their outfits on my fan page. With Miche you own just one bag and only change the outside. It’s so fun to see what they all put together and the interaction from other readers.
Business tip for profiles (which are not supposed to be set up for businesses btw): One marketing post for every 10 non-marketing posts. And uses Lists! =)
Too much marketing and you will get hidden from you friends’ news feeds =( Be real. Interact. And offer something of value on a regular basis =).
Findsalesrep Get Found Wrote:  OOOOOh! Cool idea Monica Ramos!  Love those shares Monica RamosGlad we are friends! 🙂
Thanks, same here!
Jennifer DiMarco I switched from a FB Group to FB Fan Page…much more visible. I also post pics and use the events section for any card making or scrapbooking classes that are not full yet…it always gets extra guests 🙂 Also, messaging does work…but from a fan page, they can not respond to the messages….so that is somewhat frustrating. but the information does get out.  From a group perspective , i found if people are on a lot of groups…you have to go to them and check them… a fan page is more “searchable” you can also tag that you are “there” from a fan page, not from a group. so my customers when they are here taking a class etc can “check in” at my location.
Yes, it is spam if you just message people, I’m talking about messaging the people who like my page (by their own choice – they sign up to like me) and they sign up for an event. so a message would be = Reminder: This Friday Night – Intro to scrapbooking class …with time, address etc..
Sherri L Freedom  Every other Campaign for Avon or so I do a drawing for anyone that places an order, it maybe a $25 gift cert, or a product, etc
Kim Newsom It is frustrating to see people post their page over and over again but with no real information about what you can do for your customers. Customer service is key and if what you are offering is not going to be beneficial to your customer then you won’t have a customer. Genuinely be interested in helping the consumer… Not just helping yourself.
Amy Chamney I absolutely market on FB!! I have stores on my pages, too! It helps customers find me easily, interact and ask questions to me, as well as offering them a convinient way to go ahead and order something from me. I do not even have websites for my businesses ~ it’s all on facebook
Lisa Miller I share not only pictures, but my story, what I am doing, where I’m going to be, and of course company info as well. I share what interests me and what I think others might want to see. Sometimes you get a flurry of likes and comments, and sometimes you don’t. If you don’t see any “likes” or comments on a status update, it does not mean nobody has seen it. You would be surprised just how many people are watching you. You have no idea just how many times, I’ve had no comments or likes on a status update and then people tell me they’ve been enjoying my updates. I find being positive and fun to be around really helps. Nobody wants to see someone who complains all the time and it’s very unprofessional to use course language or inappropriate content. I also belong to a lot of groups and have created my own group which has grown into a small community. I put my facebook url on all of my business cards and marketing/promotional materials. I link up my social media platforms and cross promote them. I join in on conversations, start conversations, “like” and share interesting status updates from my friends. I just make myself very visable, interesting and interesed. And yes I do message people but what works best is messaging people you have made a true connection with. Networking is so important. It takes time to build rapport and trust. Give it time, be proactive and engaging and it will happen. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day, you can’t build a house without a foundation and there is no such thing as getting rich quick 🙂  Communicate with real people you’ve made true connection with 🙂 And real messages too.  And I Absolutely love the idea of sharing ideas! Learning from each other is a wonderful gift that should be celebrated and shared. Together we work towards a common goal, to build our businesses 🙂 Thank you Findsalesrep Get Found for doing what you do!
