Why this is Exactly the Right Time for Your Small Business

You are a small business owner. You work hard. You manage and promote your businesses as you strive to succeed and a make difference in your finances. We know it’s a tough grind and that there are plenty of obstacles in your way. Covid-19 is just the latest in a long line of hurdles. The pandemic has touched every aspect of our lives and it is reminding us of how interconnected we all and how our actions can significantly impact those around us, as we find ourselves adapting to a new normal. How we respond to new demands, how we support each other through crisis, how we modify our ways of doing business and how we revise the ways in which we interact with both our business partners and our customers, all of these new interactions are shaping our new small business plans.

How we respond to new demands Things are not the same. Living and working through a pandemic is something new for all of us. The economy is being artificial supported by the federal government and showing no real signs of recovery. Economists and experts agree that the economy won’t really start to recover until there is a cure for the Coronavirus. The new world we find ourselves in can NOT be responded to in the same ways we are used to. We must search for new ways to respond to the new demands a of socially distant world. Gone are the days of face to face marketing and meetings in coffee shops. The Zoom call and other online interactions have replaced the time honored tactics of the most successful sales representatives and entrepreneurs. Today, small businesses are encouraged to do their part to keep their employees, customers, and themselves healthy. To do that, they need to be creative. Lucky for you, your business is already online. You have a link to your company website, a place where you can send people that want what you’ve got. You’re used telling people face to face how to get there. Now, for your business to survive, you will have to look for ways to tell them online.

  • Directories: Like FindSalesRep, Manta, Yelp and others
  • Advertisements: Google is the leader, but there are literally millions of places to buy ads
  • Social Media Marketing: There are a lot, but you will have the most success using Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook
  • Blog: Share ideas and products that can help others relieve some of the stress. Help people adapt to the new way of life that we are all facing and make life a little easier for others.

How we support each other through crisis There’s no denying how difficult these times are. Stress, hardship, uncertainty all require a response that is both empathetic and compassionate. In your business, you are a leader. Leaders need to look for ways to identify with the feelings, thoughts and attitudes of their customers, their teams, their employees and their business partners. Show that you, through your business have feelings of deep sympathy and sorrow for others who are stricken by misfortune. Show them that you have a strong desire to alleviate their suffering.

  • For your customers: Identify strategies that they can use today to combat there problems. Can your business offer a solution, some support or comfort?
  • For your Team or employees: How can you directly help them today? Can you call  or connect with them to identify what they need

How we modify our ways of doing business In these times especially, we are constantly reminded how one person’s action can impact the life of another. Just think about how big your reach can be and then work with others to make it even bigger.  Collaborate with your business partners to change how you do your business. Start work together to use your joint interests to become something bigger than you are apart. There are many types of business partnerships to consider. Businesses with different basic interests can partner together to share content or customers. The benefit of this type of collaboration is to reduce worry about competition. A great example is to host an online party. Invite 10 reps from different, non similar companies to host. In order to qualify as a host each must bring 2 reps with them to the party.  That’s 30 people at one event and a fun party! This idea also works for training events, swapping sprees, swag bag exchanges and basket giveaways, all of which can be done completely online. The swapping spree, swag bag exchange and gift basket giveaways can be run a little differently. They offer you and you business partners ways to share revenue.  If this sounds too confusing or too difficult, it’s not. In fact, chances are you are already a part of a revenue sharing partnership. If you or your business are an affiliate, consultant, representative or ambassador of any brands where you earn a percentage of the sale, that’s a revenue partnership. 😉 You can get creative with all of these types of partnership.

How we revise the ways in which we interact with both our business partners and our customers.  Meaningful interactions begin with kinder leaders. If you think back to the most impactful mentors you have had either professionally or unofficially, you will instantly remember their kindness toward you. They made time for you and they connected with you. Now, during this time of so much anxiety and suffering, you could take advantage of the moment  and seize the opportunity and become a more empathetic leader. Reach out and check in on your customers, teammates, employees and business partners. Treat them like friends and family.

These new interactions are shaping your new small business plan. Kindness is contagious and good for business.  Show genuine gratitude and interest in the concerns of others. Public display recognition and affection. Putting them first will have an mediate positive effect on your business. These small but meaningful gestures will create lasting connections of goodwill and mutual prosperity.

Take the extra time that you have during this imposed down time that we are all being forced to take and find new ways to make people happy!

We’d be Happy if You left a comment, shared this post or liked us on fb. Thx! 😉

FTC Sent Warning Letters to Multi-Level Marketers

You LOVE your company. Their products have changed your life and you want to tell the wold your story. Telling your story comes naturally, because it’s your story. It’ a gathering of details that you actually experience. You are encouraged to share those experiences with the people in your lives. You share them by world of mouth, and sometime that means in print. You’re a great marketer, so your posting to you facebook page(s), your twitter account, your Instagram, Pintrest, Whatsapp, Skype, Zoom and a million other places on your computer, phone and tablet. Your company encourages you to share your story.

RIGHT?

Maybe.

Recently, the Federal Trade Commission has sent out warning letters to many multi-level marketing companies. These MLM’s have been asked to remove and address claims about their products’ ability to treat or prevent coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) or about the earnings people who have recently lost income can make, or both. This is an ongoing efforts to protect consumers from COVID-19 scams.

The letters address specific claims made by the companies or their participants (YOU) in social media posts and videos posted online, including claims made in Spanish.

The warning letters include :

  • A Spanish-language social media post promoting Vivri USA, LLC that said, “Take care of your health, your body, avoid many diseases many viruses, since this virus and many others are here to stay, coronavirus, influenza, flu, we should nourish our cells, our immune systems, reinforce it with the best nutrition system in the world …”
  • A social media post that said, “#VIRUS_CORONA Worried? I’ve been boosting my immune system for several years with high-quality Plexus supplements. You can too! #Plexus provides excellent all-natural supplements that truly work. Be sensible –not fearful. Scientifically formulated & doctor-approved! Ask me!”
  • A video promoting The Juice Plus Company that said, “There are a lot of people out there who have lost income … You may want to build a side income, you know, make $500 a month, $1,000 a month or more. There’s no ceiling on this. It’s whatever you want it to be … What would you like this do to for you? … Maybe it could cover one of your bills, like a car payment. Or enjoy more time and financial freedom. I can tell you those are both possible at the same time because I’ve been living that for the past eight years, and it’s wonderful to be able to offer that to other people.”

Some of the FTC sent the letters are listed below. Not all of the letters are listed here. To find out if your company was sent a letter, please visit the FTC website.

Both Health and Earnings Claims:
Isagenix International LLC
The Juice Plus+ Company

Earnings Claims:
Melaleuca, Inc.

Health Claims:
Youngevity International, Inc. (this company was warned about claims in Spanish and English)
Vivri USA, LLC (this company was warned about Spanish-language claims)
Plexus Worldwide, LLC

In these letters, alleging unsubstantiated claims, companies are warned to remove any all such claims from the internet. That includes any posts that their Independent Reps have made. That’s YOU and there are a lot YOU.

What you are sharing with your friends, teams and the wold is really important, it’s your story, but is it endangering your company? Maybe…

When you state or assert that something is the case, you typically are defending your position with your own evidence, your story. But… according to the FTC you are making that claim without providing evidence or proof. This can put your company in jepardy.

How can you avoid getting yourself and your company in trouble?

It’s not a simple question to answer, we think that Thatcher Tech has the best advice you can find on the internet.  In NOVEMBER 20, 2019, they wrote a post called DIRECT SELLING LAW 101: HOW TO KEEP THE REGULATORS HAPPY”. In this post, they’ve provided advise to help you navigate the current regulatory environment. We suggest you read the section of the article,  What are some of the ways that distributors typically run afoul of FTC regulations?”

Let us know what you think.

Spring Cleaning For Your Buisness

spring cleaning businessIf you’re ready to get motivated, improve your home business success, and boost your family income, it’s time to spring clean your business!

One hard push over a weekend does not make a sustainable business, but a good bout of spring cleaning can help you kick off a healthy business that will last for months and even years to come!

Step 1: Get Your Mind Right

What’s your overall goal? And…  more importantly, WHY are you going to work at this every day to meet your goal? Just striving for  a certain number in your bank account won’t inspire you to greatness, but if reaching that number means you can achieve a lifelong goal,  gain more freedom or have richer family life, you’re a lot more likely to keep doing the work that it will take to get there. Once you’ve figured out your “why,” make sure you keep it front of mind. A vision board is a great way to positively inspire yourself to achieve your personal breakthrough. It can be a dry erase board, a cork board, or a piece of poster board—just make sure it’s visible and tangible. Put inspiring quotes, photos, and any other images that will keep you focused on taking positive action.

Step 2: Know What You Are Putting In and Getting Out

A healthy business is all about risk AND reward, but financial gurus agree that what you put in to your business accounts for about 75 to 80 percent of your success. That means it’s time to clean out the those efforts that are not producing results and clean up your shopping list. Stopping waisting your time and your money.  What you spend to run your business can not exceed what you earning for very long.  That’s why choosing  the right way’s to promote your business is crucial.  Remember, what you do to promote your business fuels your success!

little to no promotion = little to no success

You wouldn’t fuel an airplane with diesel fuel from a rusty, old gas can and expect it to do its job, right? Give your business the kind of respect and provide it with the fuel it needs to perform at its peak. Make sure you’re getting exposure either face to face at events, fairs and or expos or on social media and don’t forget a healthy amount of advertising. Cut out empty ventures that consistently waste your time and energy. If it has not been profitable or has not grown your business, cut it out and look for other avenues that will lead you to your goals more efficiently.  The more good exposer or fuel you give your business, the more it will crave! Think snow ball effect. findsalesrep.com logo 2015And what about YOU?  You much be fully committed to achieve full attainment of your goals.  You’ve got to be all in.  If you’re not ready to do a week’s or even month’s worth of business prep every Monday that includes, emails, phone calls, meetings and other forms self promotion and then following it through out the week, you won’t succeed on your own.  That doesn’t mean it can’t be done.  Find a company that offers a complete, quality lead system that’s convenient to use and is affordable. After all, it won’t do you any good wishing and hoping for success if you don’t actually follow through and get in front of an audience.  FindSalesRep.com offers many advertising options from Basic to NationWide Listings.  We recommend checking out the NationWide pricing in our Treasure Chest at www.FindSalesRep.com/Treasure.  That’s where you will find our best offers and you will be able to compare different levels of exposure.  The NationWide listing is a great way to start maximizing your exposure while you build relationships with new customers from all a cross the country.  Listings are available in both the USA and CANADA.

Bonus points if you can get everyone on your team to get on board with what you are doing!

You’ll have moral support and increased chances for accountability!

Step 3: Get Moving

Whether you join the facebook revolution, attend all the wedding expos this spring, or just get out of your chair  to walk around the block and knock on a few businesses doors, making new connections will help you reach your goals. And, as a bonus, being around like minded, excited people it’s a mood-enhancer. The link between human connection and helping others and improved mood is pretty strong.

EXAMPLE: Usually when you smile at someone they smile back.

Start a conversation and your whole day will change, typically for the better.

And while different kinds of interactions have different benefits, the best business practice is the one you actually do! They call it practice because it is intended to be done over and over again over time.  Not just in short spurts, erratically, when you are in the mood. So, find ways of connecting with people that are in need or are looking for what you’ve got.  Look for things that fits into your schedule, fulfill you, and that you don’t keep making excuses to cancel.  Find ways of producing prospect that you will actually do and DO them.

Step 4: Articulate and SHARE Your Goals

One of the best ways to reach your goals is to make them SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely). “make more money” or “grow your business” are goals that are too vague. How do you know if you’ve succeeded? Once you’ve identified the specific business goals that you want to achieve, make sure they’re SMART.  Then… it’s time to share them. Though it may be tempting to keep your journey to yourself until you’ve completed it, successful entrepreneurs say you should share early and often.  You’re only keeping them a secret if they are not sincere.

“Research performed by Dr. Gail Matthews, a clinical psychologist,

found that participants who wrote down their goals

achieved significantly more than those who only thought about their goals.

And, those who wrote down action commitments (in addition to their goals)

were even more likely to reach their goals.”

So what are you waiting for? Find a friend, team mate or family member to be your business accountability partner!  Tell them what you want to achieve, when you want to have succeed and how you are planning to do it.  Who knows, they probably will be inspired to join you.

11 Things You Can Do To Achieve More Today

do something

It can be overwhelming.  Being your own boss will offer you moments of self doubt, crushing stress and frustration.  BUT…  but there’s also excitement, adventures, new possibilities and a whole lot of clapping and smiling when you achieve success.

You may not be able to quit your job today or follow every direct sales lead that comes your way, but every day contains within it countless opportunities, all waiting to see what you will do.

Theses are the choices that will make all the difference in your business.  They are the things that will determine your current level of success and your likelihood of you achieving your goals in the future.

So, WHAT IF?  What if you make some changes today and stick to them?  WHAT IF?

Sometimes even the smallest shift in thinking or doing can create the biggest opportunities.

To get started:

1. Stop thinking and stopping there.  Getting a good idea is NOT enough. Write down all of your ideas, right when you have them.  Then, put them on your calendar and make them happen.

2. Challenge your beliefs about what you can and can’t do. You are better than you think you are.  Yeah, you really are that good!

3. Challenge your ideas about how things work. Sometimes when you decide how things should be you limit your ability to see how they CAN BE.  Take a look at how others ‘do the business’ and see which things you think you could try to adopt in to your day to day business plans.

4. Have a vision, a dream, a goal.  Write down your goals.  “I will… by this date…”  Then create a vision board and put on it those things that will be visible you when you achieve your goals.  (Directions for creating a vision board can be found in the search on this blog.)

5. Look for opportunities in every failure.  Avoid the victim mentality, everything that happens, whether to-you or by-you is an opportunity. Yes, EVERYTHING!  Change your attitude and start LOOKING for the opportunity in EVERYTHING.

6. Remove something from your life that doesn’t serve you.  Make room for something better and new.   These can be small things, like a cluttered work space or big things like a business partner that is holding you back.  Either way, take the time to evaluate those things that you let in to your business and make room for new things that will encourage growth.

7. Commit to something.  You know those things that you always say you’ll do but you never seem to start start—start them.  Go, right now, GO!  Write it on your calendar and figure out how to make it happen.  Take the first step right now.

8. DON’T think about what you DON’t want. DO think about what you DO want. Shift your energy from complaining, worrying and waisting time to doing, taking action and achieving.

9. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Positive energy creates positive results.  Enough said.

10. Self Improvement is a sign of growth and intelligence.  Anytime you improve your habits, you pave the path for personal excellence.

11. Forgive your self and others.  Let go of grudges. Removing barrier opens doors.

5 Ways To Protect Your Small Business From Fraud

1.  Put all sales through your company provided website. Legitimate buyers understand that you want to help them get the products that they are looking for and are happy to take your advise and shop directly on your company provided website.

get paid first2.  Obtain a buyers name, telephone number and mailing address, before you transact business. Some con artists give out false names, telephone numbers, addresses, and other info. Verify the accuracy of these things by ‘googling” those persons that you do not already know.

3.  Before you send any products, get the payment.  NEVER send the product first.   Legitimate retail business owners, like yourself,  ALWAYS get paid first.  You are not in the service industry.  Think about your company.  They sell retail products, just like the brick and mortar shops and stores that you walk in to everyday. Would they ever send you product first and then wait for you to pay them?  NO NEVER!  Before you send products, ask yourself a simple question. “What guarantee do I really have that this person will send money in the manner we agreed upon?”

4.  Don’t take risks when a new buyer entices you by offering to help you grow your business.  Always take your time making a decision. Legitimate business partners won’t pressure you to make a snap decision.

5.  If you are trading’ or ‘swapping’ meet in person and make the exchange at the same time.  NEVER be the first and wait for your part of the bargain to arrive latter.  Authentic buyer will understand and respect your need safe transaction.

Trending Topics in Direct Sales

Direct selling is certainly a classic sales method and given the reach of the Internet in the business world, the approach to direct selling has a larger reach than ever before.

TOPIC: The debate is on!!! Coffee shop or online blog? Door to door or email contact list? Typical meeting or online chat? How’s a poor marketer to decide? It used to be that “Face Time” with prospects through all stages of a sales cycle was the only way. It was was tried and true, but with all the gadgets used today, “Shopper” no longer seem to value the antiquated ritual.  It seems that “Face Time” may no longer be necessary at all.

More often than not, sales go through – online without any direct contact at all. Independent Sales reps can now use the Web to conduct product demonstrations, hold multi-person sales trending topics thurspresentations, all kinds of things that help them connect with their audience.

Here’s just an example:
For many top recruiters, email has replaced the phone as a primary method of reaching out to contact new prospective customers for the first time. The traditionalist would say this selling tactic is bad even though it brings down the cost of doing business and takes less time, but sales don’t lie. TODAY’S TOP SELLERS IN EVERY DIRECT SALES COMPANY are the ones with a strong online presence and a long email contact list.

PROBLEM: There is one pit fall that online marketers face -ISOLATION- working in isolation tends to make reps less productive than if they work in groups, even small ones, where they can feed off each others momentum.

SOLUTION: Form a team that can share sales strategies. The best ones are social clubs for entrepreneurs and sales professionals that to help them learn how to get good at sales and to have fun doing it. There should be no sales “gurus” or “experts” in these groups. Let every leader show off and share their smart. Ambitious people will have a lot to share and will help the whole group work hard to reach their goals. Having FUN is what will keep the motivation engine revving.

5 Steps to Solving Your Big and Little Business Problems

We have a Golden Doodle.

Because he is part Golden Retriever, he is loyal to our family, but the Poodle in him makes him a bit of a scaredy cat.  He barks insistently when the door bell rings and when the visitor is let in, he hides behind the legs of closest adult and is as quiet as can be.

He loves us but he is a funny dog.

ben joey
Last night, he came to me crying.  I have 3 boys, so when I hear crying in the middle of the night, it gets me up quick.  As a Mom, my first instinct was to think “SICK!” So, I rushed for the back door to let him out to do his thing, but he did not follow me.  Instead, he vigilantly cried in my bathroom.  My first though,’was he asking to use the tolet?’   Nope, he was telling me that something was behind the door.  I tried to call him away, but he would not budge.  He just shot me a look that said, “HELP ME!”   It was in that moment that I realized that there was a problem behind the door and that he had gotten me and brought me to the door to help him solve the problem.

Being a smart wife, I called for my husband, woke him up, brought him to the bathroom and I asked him to solve the problem behind the door.  Was it was a snake, a scorpion or worse, what if it was spider?  He was the right person to help solve the problem.   Grudgingly, he opened his eyes, pulled away the covers, came to the door and scooted me and the dog back.   From the safety of the bedroom, the dog and I watched as he pulled back the door to reveal THE PROBLEM.  The one and one half inch family hamster stared back at my husband.  Lost in the bathroom, he did not know whether to run left or right so he froze and waited for my husband to make a move.  Our hero, returned the scared the hamster to his cage, pet the dog on the head and told me to get back in bed.

I am not sure if the dog was embarrassed or not, but I was grateful!  I am so proud that I have a dog that is smart enough to get help when he does not know what to do and I am so happy that I have husband that is brave and is not afraid to push back the door  – even when I don’t think I can.  I know that these two attributes are the KEYS to solving ANY big or little 1 and 1/2 inch problem.

To solve your PROBLEMS IN BUSINESS follow these 5 STEPS:

1.  Even if you are embarrassed to admit you have a problem, admit it.

2. Be smart enough to get help solving problems.  People will assume you know what you are doing most of the time, so asking for help is important.

3. Support others and try to help them solve their problems.

4. If you don’t know how to solve a problem or you are too scared to take action admit it, find someone braver than you and GET HELP.

5. Be grateful to those that do help you along the way.  Their support will get you through all of the big and small problems in your business.
